Salt n Wound

The day started off with fairly low expectations, Chris had been out boozing the night before and I had just come back from a two week holiday, neither of us were going to do anything special. With this in mind we headed for Port Soif with the idea of setting up a top rope and working out a sequence for Salt n Wound (a Martin Crocker route which takes the obvious arete and goes at E5 6b).

Paul joined us later on and pointed out some obvious (if not tiny) RP placements. I also managed to work out a sequence and would of left the lead for another day, however Paul was quite persuasive... I therefore found my self tied in ready for the lead.

The crux for me was a short sequence involving a blind slap which then allowed me to make a very precise move to a big jug. I found myself slapping round the arete but the hold was nowhere to be found! A quick look down at my RPs confirmed as should keep trying. It was all for nothing as I just ran out of juice and peeled off. Two out of the three RPs popped out along with the rock they were placed in but one of them took the fall... the lead was still on.

After a few minutes I was up there again, this time finding that hold and making it to the top!
